This was FAME, Inc. first year participating in the First Tech Challenge at the Bob Carpenter Center on University of Delaware campus.

FAME is a pre-college enrichment program that prepares and motivates traditionally underrepresented minority students and girls in grades 7-12 to enter college and complete a baccalaureate degree in engineering, science, math or technology related fields of study.

Established in 1977, Forum to Advance Minorities in Engineering Inc. (FAME) was formed by the DuPont Company to address the lack of Women, African American, Hispanic, and Native American engineers and scientist in the industry.

The program consists of a 4-6 week summer enrichment program, a school year extension and enrichment program on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, college preparation seminars, test awareness programs and other special events and programs.

The FIRST Tech Challenge is a high-school-aged robotics competition for young people. It helps FIRST achieve its vision to provide young people the opportunity to experience the power, excitement, and fun of science, technology, engineering, and math. The robotics platform used is Tetrix by Pitsco.
